NAU MAI HAERE MAI!
Pepi Patch and Taipa Area School invite you to share the marvels of Matariki during a week-long festival, 11 - 17 July 2011.
Throughout Term Two, community facilitators are working with Taipa students to develop their experience of the natural world, Te Ao Turoa, exploring ancient traditions including whakairo (carving), ta moko (tattoo), manu tukutuku (Maori kites) & raranga (weaving). Local artists add a contemporary twist developing costumes, sets & props. for a twilight whakaari (performance) to be staged on Taipa beach.
This year’s event will also feature the biggest ever Ki-o-Rahi Tournament to be staged in Taitokerau with more than 30 junior & senior teams registered from as far as Rodney, Kaikohe, Moerewa and Whangarei. Further highlights include a Maori Games workshop with Harko Brown, Junior Kapa Haka Festival and a grand talent search – Pakipaki Mai Muriwhenua...
COME SEE, LEARN, EXPERIENCE, SHARE & ENJOY!
